What
has been going on at Rainbow Reef Dive Center lately?
Tropical Voyager and Tropical Dream both get brand new Engines!
2005 was a tough year in terms of equipment for Rainbow Reef. Engines on two of our boats (Tropical Explorer and Tropical
Dream) got old and tired. We had over 13,000 hours on the Caterpillar in the Explorer and about 3,000 hours on the Mercury in the Dream. They served us well, but at the end of last
season, we just had one too many costly breakdowns and it was time for new motors. We chose a John Deere 6.8 Litre for the Explorer (she got a new transmission, shaft, and paint
as well) and chose the Mercury 5.7 350 MPI for the Dream. They are both back in the water as of March of 2006 and are carrying our divers out to the reefs better, faster and more
reliable than ever! Look forward to seeing you this season!

Rainbow
Reef Instructor Development Center Update
About 3 years ago , we were able to achieve
the prestigious PADI 5 Star Gold Palm Resort status. After
achieving this important milestone, we got right to work on
our Instructor Development
Center.
Since then, We've graduated dozens of Scuba Instructors since then with hundreds of Specialty Instructor Certifications. We are looking forward to another year
of training PADI Instructors for the Scuba Industry. If you are interested in becoming a SCUBA instructor, please check out our Instructor Development website by clicking here.
Rainbow Reef Purchases new 24 passenger vessel
The Tropical Voyager is the newest vessel in the Rainbow Reef fleet. We've had such a huge demand in our Key Largo location, we had to try and meet the needs of
our divers. With the expanded capacity, we don't have to turn customers away because we were always full on our smaller boats. She's big and fast so we can accommodate groups of up
to 24 divers if we need to. Don't worry if you don't like the big boats, we still have the Tropical Explorer in Key Largo for those of you who don't want to dive in a crowd. We can
also bring the Tropical Dream up to Key Largo from Islamorada when we have persons who want to privately charter a 6 passenger boat.
Tropical
Daze gets New Engine and Paint.
Our trusty dive boat the tropical daze
got a total make over this spring. We decided to put a brand
new out of the box Perkins Diesel engine in it. While that
was being done, we also decided it might be a good time for
some new paint on the hull. Our good friend Bill Blain came
down to help us out. Fortunately, he is an Awlgrip painting
expert. For those of you not familiar with boat paint, Awlgrip
is some of the best stuff out there. With a brand new engine
and new paint, the Daze is looking pretty good these days
and is more reliable that ever.
