Key Largo Dry Rocks is home to the world famous Christ of the Abyss Statue. The statue is about 8 feet tall, 4,000 pounds and stands in 20 feet of water. As part of the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, it is a marine sanctuary area.
The statue is one of three cast from a mold by an Italian sculptor Guido Galletti. It was originally made for Egidi Cressi, the dive equipment manufacturer and later donated to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in 1966.
The coral at the site features very high profile coral fingers and plunging sand canyons. A great dive, and a very popular snorkel location.
