Congratulations to TONIA SOARES, JOHN HURST, SHEDD KELLEY, and SCOTT MADDOCKS. They are the latest group of students to successfully complete Rainbow Reef’s Instructor Development Course and graduate as PADI Open Water Scuba Diving Instructors. Under the watchful eye of Platinum Course Director TOM WITMER, our fine, young, JEDI OW Instructor warriors successfully navigated the grueling 2 day PADI Instructor Exam involving written examinations, practical skills, open water, and confined water skills/assessments, and oral presentations. Congratulations folks! We wish you continued success as you continue your diving career.

I bet that caught your eye?! We mean Jesus (pronounced Hey-Soos) our good friend and DiveMaster! Although he never really left, after being on the staff full time, Jesus scaled it back to part timeso he couldspend some time with another opportunity. So for all of you who’ve had the pleasure of diving with him, we just wanted to let you know that he’s back. And if you don’t know him, and haven’t been diving with Jesus as your Dive Guide, see Exhibit A and B below. A couple of our favorite Customers (Hank and Jackie Bernard) were so impressed they had some t-shirts made.. Jesus was kind enough to pose with them! You don’t get t-shirts if you aren’t an awesome Dive Master!

In other news, we’ve got the Tropical Voyager back up and running after a 2 week stint in the boat hospital. Not a minute too soon. We splashed her on Friday (the 15th) in the afternoon and had her all ready for the weekend trips. Good to have her back and she’s running better than ever with a newly rebuilt engine.

We also had a visit from Margaret Olsen, her husband and “Biff” for “Biff’s birthday Bash”.. (They are in the underwater shot) They seem to kick off their dive adventures each year with us.. As I’m posting this, they are on a cruise in the Bahamas. We always enjoy having them and they also win the award each year for most colorful dive skins. If you are ever here when they are, you won’t be able to miss them!

Well, until next time…

Hey gang,

Sorry it’s been a while. We’ve been kind of busy down here in the Florida Keys. On Memorial Day the Tropical Voyager decided to blow her engine, so she’s been in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. That causes a lot of rescheduling and chaos trying to get everyone out to the reefs and wrecks, so with minimal cancellations and disappointment, we’ve been doing everything we can to work on putting a new motor in the Tropical Voyager while simultaneously taking everyone diving on the Tropical Explorer, Tropical Dream and Tropoical Daze! We’ve not had much time to post to the blog. We should be back on track by this weekend, so we’ll get back to regular posts and bring you all the news and dives from Key Largo and Islamorada.

Jackie and Hank Bernard came to visit us this week. Jackie was kind enough to send me over some pictures she took yesterday on her dive trip, so I’d have something to put on the blog that you can enjoy! I’ve been so busy trying to coordinate engine replacement, I didn’t even know she had a camera! She also got us a shot of our newest PADI Open Water Divers with thier instructor, Thomas (he’s RRDC’s newest staff member).

One last note. If you are thinking about becoming certified, visit our brand new PADI eLearning site and see how easy it is to start your class today, and then visit us in the Florida Keys and finish your certification in just two days. Click here for details!
